Hello Everyone,
I read an interesting article about John McAfee, the founder of the anti-virus company who until recently had a net worth of 100 million dollars. He took a particularly hard hit in our present economy and lost 90 million of his fortune. And an interesting thing happened. Instead of feeling devastated and ready to jump off a tall building, he experienced a freedom and relief from the stress of managing a vast fortune.
He spoke about the fact that he had had the cars, houses and planes and how little it all meant. How many houses can one person have or does one person need after all?
He does have enough money left not to worry about his next home or meal, but 90 million is a lot to lose. He spoke at his interview about his plans to start a new company and explore natural medicines.
I think that this is a time where people who have lost a lot may now begin to rethink what is imporant to them. When the material is gone, what is left are the ones we love and who love us. Some of us may realize that we have been so busy acquiring " Things " that we have left little time for the most important aspect of life and the only place to leave a lasting legacy. No economy can take that from us because it was always free.
So today I am grateful for all the people who bring meaning to my life.
Love and Blessings,
Rev. Lynn
